If it is $100 a night, it is probably not a campground.
More likely, it is a RV park or Resort. Unless the campground is providing the tents/cabins, concierge service, private chef, etc. There are some of those.
I like that "private chef". :B

Sure hope you guys have a nice stay there, great place just pricey. Just down the road going north on the left is a small good pizzo place "Micheals?" and south on H-12 toward Avon on your right is a good rest. with I think reasonable prices is Dolphin Den.
This year I'm planning to going to Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco next Thursday for a week I hope.
Watch for the goose dropping!! HA!

Markc, glad to hear that you are able now to get to go camp. Those falls from ladders are scary and as you know dangerous. Sorry you had to go thru that, but glad you are getting this trip. Enjoy and have a safe trip.
PS: stay off any ladders or out of any trees.

The Countdown Started, TG.
The countdown has started, wife and I are going to FriscoWood CG, Frisco NC next week for a week. Its been almost a year since I have been able to travel somewhat like this. Last year the day before we were going to go camping for a week or two, I fell from a ladder or the tree and hit the left side temple area of my head fracturing my skull in five pieces and also fracturing my skull all the way across. But thanks be to the Good Lord and a lot of prayers I'm better now and able once again to go camping. I'm a happy man at 52 yrs old and truly blessed by God. Hope everyone has a great summer with me..this year.

US Cellular is good from Nags Head to Ocracoke - It even worked on Portsmouth Island on Cape Lookout NS.
I concur. US Cellular is good in that area.

We are going to Frisco Woods CG located near Frisco NC (OBX).

We will be there July 17 for one week, can't tell you much about the CG now because we have never stayed there before. We got a site for one week for approx. $315.
We have stayed at the NP CG at Oregon Inlet and Frisco nice CGs but no hookups and cold showers. www.nps.gov/caha/index.htm
We also have stayed at Camp Hatteras CG but not for since they went to $81 plus per night. www.camphatteras.com

I love to camp and thought I'd not be saying this but - I'm thinking of selling my rig and staying in hotels again. :h I love the campfires and all that but with prices of everything not just camp sites and gas but food and EVERYTHING going up it just seems painful anymore... :( I'll buy me a sport coupe convertable and see the country in style - maybe stay in a bed and breakfast from time to time for some good eats and let the DW take a break from cookin'. Sorry to sound like the grinch but I think the economy is getting pretty painful... :(
Everything changes, my wife and I have truly been blessed. We can afford the $100/night sites but it seems like a ripoff. And most of the ones who stay there, are the ones who really can't afford it. Those are the one I feel bad for.

Campground Rates
Maybe I'm in left field but when rates at some CG are around $100/night, I lose interest in camping there. I realize some people want all kind of things out of the campground but for me a place to park with at least E/W and I'm happy.

We like Camp Hatteras(OBX) but now their rate have got too high, you can get a room cheaper and leave the camper home and save gas.

Of course the other big news is that a lot of the ORV beach access has been closed and if you are intersted check out this link; http://www.IslandFreePress.org
It is not just the ORV (Off-Road Vehicle) beach access that is being affected. These closures affect pedestrians also!
Darn thing is that the Endangered Species Act is being used to justify this for several species and only one species (Piping Plover) is considered Endangered.
It is not about the birds.

Just a thought: NPS wants to limit or do away with driving on the beach but if the Supt of the park makes the rule, he knows he will most likely get fired. So here's the plan, let's get the Bird Society to sue us (NPS) and we (NPS) will pay all their legal expenses and when it is all said and done the Bird Society just goes home.
I could not agree with you more "It is not about the birds."

Thanks for the update, I guess I am surprised that it is that deserted, but maybe we should not be due to gas prices? Yesterday I just completed my reservations for Ocean Waves for September. We will be taking the week down there. What is the source of the fire?

I also have what you're looking at. I haven't notice any more noise maybe it's a little more quieter in the truck. If you want to have both sliding windows open they sell an inflatable donut to go between the two windows.
